About me

Picture
I am a professional psychologist and dance/movement therapist in Seattle who has been providing mental health services to individuals, families, couples, and groups for over 18 years. I have experience treating people with a range of difficulties and emotional pain, including anxiety, depression, grief, stress, loss, insomnia, relationship difficulties, loss of cognitive abilities due to dementia, and trauma. I have worked with individuals recovering from Posttraumatic Stress Disorder, substance abuse, physical pain, fibromyalgia, and body image problems. I also specialize in helping people live fuller lives while dealing with cancer and other life-threatening and life-altering illnesses and conditions. My ways of working include talk therapy, dance/movement therapy, and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR). I also draw from the theories and methods of feminist therapy, psychoanalytic psychotherapy, health psychology, other evidence-based treatments, and complementary and alternative methods.

A note from a former patient

"Thank you for your wise counsel and problem-solving last Thursday afternoon. My appointment at the breast center Friday went well, and no biopsy was necessary. (Yipee!). More importantly, though, I drove myself there, gave myself choices, looked around the rooms to have a more literal than emotional memory of them, and could have gone through with the biopsy if it had been needed. I was calmer than usual, and tolerated everything well. You made a difference in my life, and that difference is greater than getting the cancer/no cancer questions answered. Thank you.                                                                                 -unsolicited note from a cancer patient
